Nice MacGregor Pete Reiser Fielding Model Glove. I found reference for it being offered for sale from 1947-1952.

I really appreciate it! Really excited to get it. Super cool up close and ties to a medium (newspapers) that were so central to the way that people consumed information 80 years ago.

After ~30 years I finally acquired a Lincoln Chiefs home jersey. I've had an away jersey for about 10 years now. This is a 1958 jersey.

Default 1897 Pittsburgh pirates

I picked up this silver gelatin print on the 5th.
It has some silvering going on in the very dark
Areas which you can’t see in the picture as you
Need to see it in the right light. Don’t know much
More about it. It is featured in the baseball blogess’
Blog as it has one of her favorite orioles Steve Brodie
In the photo. If anyone could share more info it would
Be appreciated. I’ve included a few more photos to
Show the silvering in the photo . Thank you!

If you collect basketball memorabilia, give us a hell yeah.
If you're coming to the Net54 meetup Saturday in Virginia, bring basketball stuff and give us another hell yeah.

Thank you! I like advertising items with a baseball tie-in and the scoreboards do the trick. I also think the boards are cool looking. Thankfully, so far wall space is not a problem.

I saw your item a month or so ago and thought it was a nice piece of advertising. I have not seen that item before. I am still kicking myself for sleeping on the poster below. I likely won't see another one.

That poster is pretty cool. There must be others out there, no? You know the old saying about when you see something for the first time, buy it.

My Lew Burdette sign was obviously meant to have a price written on it and attached to a crate of apples in the grocery store. I imagine that when prices changed, signs got tossed. Mine is probably one of a very few that never got used. Could be the only one left.

Very true, buy it when you see it. Not heeding that advice has cost me on a few items. Of all the scrapple items, I was only interested in the poster. I waited and waited and then one day it was sold. Like your piece the poster is likely one of a kind or very few. I have never seen another one.

I don't usually get too excited about new pickups until I actually have them in hand, but it's been such a great 12 hours for my collection that I feel the need to post my REA wins tonight.

Three m113s.

Connolly I knew existed because it was in a Lipset auction in 2004, but I had never seen a picture of it.

I had no proof that the Schmidt existed until this auction.

Lajoie has a completely different caption than my other copies (which I wasn't aware of until this auction).

I can't remember last time I added 3 new m113s in a day.

Woohoo!

Doug

PS - Apologies to the portion of the REA staff that gets to stay at work until all lots in the auction have closed, and apologies also to the underbidder for those extra 2 hours 40 minutes.

Congrats on the additions. Amazing attention to detail you have given the amount of items you have seen and in your collection.

Default 1992 LA Dodgers no-hit pitcher Kevin Gross game used hat

Here is a recent pickup that I like.
This is a game used 1992 LAD hat that came from no-hit pitcher Kevin Gross.
The hat was gifted to a Dodgers season ticket holder at a Dodger sponsored event shortly after the no-hitter that Gross pitched on August 17,1992 @ LAD.
Gross signed the hat under the bill and the hat shows tremendous use.

The season ticket holder that received the hat said that Gross was reluctant to give up the hat because it was his "gamer", but relented after the guy asked for the 4th time. That's what I call commitment!

Thanks for snagging it for my advanced no-hitter collection.
Growing up in So Cal, owning a LAD no-hitter game used hat makes it extra special.

I got the full Kevin Gross no-hitter ticket signed by him entering the stadium in Anaheim when he was briefly with the Angels at the end of his 14 year MLB career.

so excited to add a beautiful type 1 of Lou with Babe and Jackie Mitchell. She was a female pitcher who played for the Chattanooga Lookouts. She supposedly "struck out" Ruth and Gehrig in an exhibition game in 1931.

Wow I have never seen that Ruth/Gehrig/Mitchell photo before. It's too bad the NEA archive got spread to the wind after it was sold in a storage unit sale back in the day. It must have been quite amazing when it was intact! I guess we can be thankful it survived unlike most photo archives.

Thank you both. I am super excited to get it and very appreciative to the person who sold it to me for making it available.

Picked up an extremely rare movie poster and vhs of the movie King Kung Fu. It was filmed in Wichita in the 1974-1976 time frame but wasn’t released until 1987. This movie is pretty obscure if you could imagine so acquiring the tape let alone the poster was quite the score for me. So what does this have to do with baseball you might ask? Well there’s about a 3 minute scene where the Gorilla fights the minor league Wichita Aeros baseball team. There’s a baseball guy on the poster and tape as well. A recent DVD release of this movie is available if someone was interested in watching it. To watch the baseball portion google King Kung Fu baseball.

Does the girl in King Kung Fu’s palm have a big part(s)?

Got a box of 10 jerseys in the mail today. These 2 go great with my team autographed bat.

Joe Engel, dubbed the "P.T. Barnum of the minors" for his promotional stunts as owner of the Lookouts, was also a big league pitcher who became a super scout for Washington and helped put together their pennant-winning teams of 1924-25. He was also great friends and hunting buddies with Walter Johnson. This photo captures one of his most famous stunts.

Awesome gamer, Scott.... although I rooted hard against them, I love the classic Cap!
