Default TheClosingPrice.com – Guess the value of vintage cards each week and win cash!

Posted By: Just Collect

Just Collect, IncWhere Knowing The Value Of Collectibles Makes You Cash

Just Collect, Inc., eBay’s largest consignment seller of vintage sports cards and memorabilia, is pleased to announce the launch of www.TheClosingPrice.com. Just like The Price is Right, each week we pick three auctions on eBay and you guess The Closing Price for each.

For each auction, the closest guess without going over wins $50, 2nd place wins a $25 grading/authentication gift certificate, and 3rd place wins a Just Collect polo shirt! We are giving away over $300 of cash and prizes each week, and as more people play, the prizes will increase!

This week, the auctions are:

Pre-War Card Competition:
T206 Ray Demmitt St Louis Variation PSA 1 Well Centered

Vintage Card Competition:
1963 Topps #537 Pete Rose Rookie Reds PSA 7

Autograph Competition:
2000 UD Michael Jordan Signed Auto Game Used Floor UDA

Guessing closes on Saturday, 24 hours before the auctions end. On Monday, we will announce this week’s winners and next week’s auctions.

We invite all Network54 members to participate in this contest. TheClosingPrice.com is always completely free to play and fun for all!

Sincerely,

Scott Greenwald & Leighton Sheldon

since this isn't an ad and is posted as a thread in the main forum -

I would say it is open to opinions and criticism....

I think it is kind of cheesy.

What makes Leon's contests work and fun is that there is no connection to the eBay lister.

What makes this take on a N54 contest - 'not-work' and 'not-fun' is that it is, at your own admission, an attempt to promote your own auctions.

Just my opinion.

I'm with Joe D on this one. Cheese to the tenth degree. A banner ad is paid for and I have no problem with it. But additional promotion in a live thread -- solely to generate more cash than the banner thread could be expected to -- crosses the line.

Man you guys are sure tough. They are coming for you Leon. I have to admit I was one of the very strong spoken people against the whole ad banners on the board and people posting ads on the main forum but I really could careless now. I would rather read about another great auction or a chance for FREE stuff than the drama that I have to skip over on here lately. I even click on a thread about a great find (SKYDISH) looking for a good story on how it turns out and all that becomes is another b***h fest! Man let some stuff go. I know I hi-jacked the thread here and everyone has there opinon so there is my long winded one. I guess I go back to not posting and skipping threads. By the way thanks Scott and Leighton for the chance at free stuff and a fun FREE way to do it.

Thanks,
Trevor Hocking

Egads. Sigh. How timely, since I just left two long posts in another thread about my concerns about the advertising and how the scope and effect can creep.

On the other hand, maybe my posts were completely wrong, and Corey/Peter right when they said that the members would help keep things in check. This one certainly got some push-back in a hurry.

Thank you Joe for pointing out so quickly that by being in a thread it was open for comments, and Jeff and Barry too for being forthright with your views. Par for the course, and good for my cynical soul that was on full display in the thread next door!

Joann

they are trying to corner us

"Chill out a little. Have some fun"

?? Last I checked - I was having fun in this hobby.

I think those that are taken aback by polite constructive criticism on a main board thread...
those are the people who need to chill out

I did not edit my original post... read it again.
It is polite constructive criticism.
As a business owner myself - I would love to get that type of feedback from customers.

On the BST or as a banner ad - I wouldn't think it my place to post my opinion. But as a main board thread... posting my opinion.... YES even a negative opinion.... is what makes this forum enjoyable and useful. Once I, or anyone else feels uncomfortable to politely post an opinion on the main board - this site starts to lose value.

Just my opinion.

Fair enough...and I totally agree with you. Constructive criticism is a good thing. I think everyone knows how many times I have taken criticism on the board. I take it all in and then can make a more informed decision. It's all good, my friend.....take care
