Default What is maximum value for grading based on?

Posted By: James Feagin

Sometimes I see grading companies state that to submit a card under a given tier that a card can only have a maximum value of XYZ. What are those values based on? Insurance values or something else?

I submitted onsite at a show with SGC earlier this year and they used the NM Standard Catalog value. Not sure if that is how older cards that are not often found in NM are valued (geez, I hope not). I would e-mail them and ask if you are unsure.

James:

Those values are for insurance purposes as well as indicating which level of service (and price point) you must submit under. The service levels will dictate the time frame of your grading submission.

I always place a value of what the card costs me - unless the card is a real highend item then I would place a value from that - which can be found on the PSA or SGC website based on condition.
