I'm in no way an expert on these things, but this certainly would not inspire any confidence...

Question & Answer Answered On Jul-17-13
Q: Is this a reprint?
A: I can't say for certain if this card is a reprint or not but having researching this card I will say the printing on the bottom is in brown like the original from what I read copies would be black ' I have not seen another reprint like it I hope this helps to end any confusion
That and the shitty photos would limit my bidding to something under $1.

Lost my temper on this one. Sent a very nasty message. I don't like doing that but these asshole crooks are becoming unbearable.

ANYONE with an authentic Wagner would have it slabbed - no matter what the condition..... Yep this is total BS

Even more amazing is the number of folks who are willing to part with 5K on an unknown.

Somewhere, (here?) I read that eBay rules require a handful of cards, led by the Wags, to be TPG-slabbed. This listing, most likely will be pulled.

I have often wondered if you could set up a bogus E Bay account and win this auction for $50,000 or so, and stick the scammer with the E Bay fees, or at least make him work a bit to get out of them.

If you look at this person's Feed back, they have sold a 1933 Goudey Ruth as a reprint and a T206 Cobb as a reprint but, all of a sudden, they have an original T206 Wagner?

Default No Returns on this item!!!

Yikes, it got 67 bids!!! Thank God this is covered by the eBay Buyer Protection Plan!!!

p.s. The seller did give himself an "out" with the disclaimer that he can't say for sure if it is a reprint, although he did go on to infer it was genuine.

Actually that statement is quite untrue.

Now, if they were going to sell it, then that might be true.....because most folks with a Wagner would want to maximize their value for resale.

I haven't seen a reprint with the lettering but my experience is limited. Still I am not taking a $5,000 gamble.

Let's end any pretense that there is a chance this is authentic. If there was a chance the owner would have spent more time putting together a decent description and taking a real photo instead of slapping something together in 2 minutes. It is absurd he is getting $5,000 for it but if he even thought it was possibly legitimate he would have attempted to build a decent listing and attempted to legitimize the provenance of the card to get something closer to the actual value of a real Wagner.

Exactly right. No one sells a card for $5,000 if there is even the slightest chance that it is worth $200,000.

It really bugs me that now eBay allows a seller to say they don't know if their items are real or not. eBay has a little known rule stating that sellers may "not disclaim knowledge of authenticity" with regard to what they sell. But that listing box that may be checked "unknown" now gives them a loophole. It contradicts eBay's own policy, but it is what it is.

Let's not forget another hallmark of the scam artist - the 3-day bidding period. That way they have a chance to actually sell their crap before eBay catches on and pulls the listing.

It's identical to the one slabbed by Beckett. So, a fake front on a real back most likely. The chances that someone cracked it out of the Beckett slab to keep it in a toplader is very close to 0

The beckett one

Now ebay says that the listing has been removed. Maybe they prevented the sale after all.
