Default FS: 1890's Baseball Sweater

Turn of the century wool Baseball Sweater. 100% original and untouched, in the family of the consignor since the very early 1900's when worn by the consignor's Grandfather while playing in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The player had told his family that this was a Detroit Tigers warm-up sweater, however no match could be made. It is possible that he played for the Silver Foams of the Grand Rapids Brewing Co. The Silver/Grey sweater has Black collars and sleeve tips, very typical of late 1890's baseball sweaters, most of which did not have logo's. Inside there are two labels. One has the manufacturer's model or style is the number 3847 and 2/4 which is probably the size of the sweater, which would equate it to a medium. The other tag is the manufacturer, unfortunately it is too frayed to make out but may be recognizable by vintage uniform collectors. Below that it states "Knit Wear" and "Major League". There are some snags in the sweater which are minor in nature, and it is missing four buttons. With the vast majority of these lost to time, this one is in very, very acceptable condition. Many that have survived have endured the wrath of moth's, environmental damage and man made alterations. This piece is being sold as it was received so that the lucky purchaser can restore to his or her liking, although a light cleaning is probably all that is needed.

$400 shipped/insured to lower 48.

Thanks,
Greg
