I submitted a 34 #61 gehrig to PSA that came back as a reprint. A family member gave me the card probably 25 years ago. From reading prior posts, I'm betting this is a reprint from the 1960's. What should you look for in a 1960's goudey reprint? Is the word "reprint" typed on the card directly below the "made in USA" on 34 goudey's and directly below "indian gum" on 33 goudey's?

Chad,

There are no Goudey reprints rom the 1960s. There are some from 1977 which is probably what you have. I know because I have them and they look real.

It would be a good idea to purchase one low grade original for comparison purposes and look at the difference in the paper stock between the two. It should be easy to tell at that point.

If I put a scan up of a 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #181 card can anybody tell me if it is real. I got it from my grand dad that passed away a few years back. He had it since I was a child. I remember seeing it. I am thinking about selling it online but I want to make sure that it is real first. I compared it to a VG3 PSA graded and it looks like that paper stock. But I need confirmation. I have not owned any GOUDEY cards before.

Here is my Mantle Bowman Rookie if anyone is interested

Nathan,

If you are considering selling either card and are concerned about the possibility of one or the other being a reprint, it would probably make sense for you to send it in to SGC, PSA or GAI for grading. Not only will they confirm one way or the other if the cards are real, you will undoubtably sell them for much more money graded than ungraded.

Always tough with a scan, but the Ruth is a reprint.

I agree with Elliot, tough to say 100% using just the scan but it does look like the reprint. I'll compare it to mine tonight.

Chad,

The 1977 reprint of this card is printed in black ink on the back so it isn't the 1977 reprint but I still won't say it's real. Something about it doesn't seem right. Send it to SGC.

The wax stains on the back of the Mantle lead me to believe that it is real.
