HOFer day! Wow, two 8's on Banks...WOW. My example is a bit more loved, but cherished just the same...Ernie Banks is one of my most beloved ballplayers, as with many others.

Joe was the first black player to win a World Series game and roomed with Jackie Robinson, who mentored him. Sandy Koufax has said he was grateful to Black for his friendship when he joined the Dodgers and experienced much the same racist attitudes as Black had earlier. But he never could find the right wife, despite 7 attempts

Bob had a short career as he did not get to the majors until 32. But he was an All Star in 54 and had a no hitter in 57.

I was recently reading about his WW2 ball playing experiences...the games they played and the players...would have been something to experience as a fan. His numbers in todays world would have paid him a few nice contracts as he moved around in the MLB...lol.
