Default Interesting Cap Anson Card

Posted By: Anonymous

I was going to bid on this auction, but the seller is the same guy that sold that fake 1895 Mayo Cut Plug card of Cap Anson that was discussed here on the forum about a week ago. Since he has sold fake cards in the past, I didn't bid on this card even though it looks real. However, it did spark my curiousity, but I cant find any info. about these cards.

I found a checklist of Cap Anson cards on the net, and one of the cards that was listed was an 1878 Robinson & Roe Chicago Team Cabinet card. I assume this is the same card on the auction page. If anybody knows anything like rarity, value, history, etc.., please let me know.

For some reason, you need to have a Yahoo ID to view this page. If you dont have a Yahoo Id, I'll be happy to email this page to anybody that wants it.

The above is an anonymous post with a thread in which you give your password information out. DON'T DO IT!!! This is exactly what we have been talking about in other threads. This thread may be a way for your yahoo password to be stolen. I have not investigated the thread far enough to see if it's legit yet but this is a good lesson just the same!

I think everything was legit on this one. The Yahoo sign in was not a fraud and the card looks legit... I compared it to the one I own. Yes, you would be taking a gamble with this person's history but there is no sure bet in life... I would have bought that card if Mike Wheat didn't get to it first....

Look at the guy's closed auctions. Loaded with fakes. I lightened the dark scan and there is no way it it's real. A cut above the bad fakes. Can't count on the seller feedback, as a Wilbert Robinson Mayo fake had a positve FB. I have yet to see a legitimate Yahoo high value card up for auction, with one or 2 exceptions which have a rather a high opening bid.

Hey everybody, I'm the creator of this posted forum and we should all thank Rob for protecting us. I didn't mean to cause a scare, but I got this website straight from yahoo, so it is legit. I'm just new to all of this, but I wont cause any more scares i promise lol. I did try to delete this post, but I dont know how.

The link is safe, but if you want to view this closed auction, but are scared to use the link i gave, I'll email this closed auction to you or you can just go to Yahoo Auctions and search in the closed auctions. Just type in Cap Anson Robinson & Roe.

Paranoia runs deep lately. Just so we really know it's you, could you please post your address, telephone number, mother's maiden name and, of course, your social security number.

to Ohio, it REEKS of the fakes that the person in Ohio is perpetrating (shiloh33 and other id's on ebay). Same M.O. other than the PSA label that they put in the Anson cabinet. JC.....the cabinet is likely your images that have been printed out on color copier and then glued back to back. And, if you look at one of the person's comments the person who bought a Mayo from them said it's a fake with a white back. I would be curious to have Mike Wheat weigh in on the card that he purchased.

I still don't understand why you all even open Yahoo's auction web-site - it makes ebay look like perfection. I confess to having been a Yahoo member up until 2 years ago - after seeing my 100th NM '52 Mantle I decided Yahoo had even less interest than ebay in providing a healthy auction environment.

Blatent fake, this guy only deals in fakes and has been infesting the yahoo waters for a long time under many ID's. Yahoo doesn't care so the slime has comfort on their site. I hope someone gets to Mike before he gets burned or he might have to raise his prices to cover the loss.
