Default Mayo Cut Plug

Posted By: Scooby Doo

I have Collected Tobacco cards for about 12 years, but know little about the Mayo Cut Plugs. I have two of them which I have had for at least 10 years, and just bought a new one (new to me). The new one has a blank BLACK back, but my older ones have blank White Backs. Can someone tell me if they origonally came both ways, or if something is "fishy" here.

The originals are all black backs. If you have a white back, there are two possibilities: (1) it's a reprint, (2) someone very carefully ripped the back off of the original, exposing the white layer underneath. The latter is unlikely, and should be pretty noticeable as you would have a rough looking back. I can sympathize with you. Reprints suck!

Bad News, but thanks. I have never even heard of such a knowledgeable board, you guys are amazing. I will now be coming here for insight and advise, and hope to be able to provide some as well.
