are horizonals more scarce then other cards?it seems the demand is higher?

They were not produced in any lower quanities...

but they are "rarer" in that they are harder to find for sale...

BECAUSE the demand is higher and therefore nobody wants to part with them.

In other words... this is a case of demand controlling the market as opposed to supply.

...in front of me at the moment, being at work and all, but aren't they only in the 150 series for T206, which were only produced in 1909, as opposed to 1909-11? I believe this is true for at least Pattee and Pelty, and may be true for the other four.

Just more sought after. Mainly b/c there are usually no more than 5 horizontals in a set and they are beautiful works of art. Just look at this one how nice the background and unique the pose is!

probably because they were handled or seperated by kids but Elkin will attest that for example the Seigle Croft's Cocoa is tough to find over the others~ just one example as he followed my lead to collect horizontal cards

I have seen quite a few Seigles and Matty Horizontals for sale over the past year (more so than several other examples). They just popped up at the wrong times last year when I had spent out at the times they appeared for auction (so, I still need both for my set). I have compiled a list of 8-10 of the toughest Cocoas, but will not share that until I have them all (I only have around 4 or 5 of them currently).

Again, I think that the horizontals are not rarer than other cards in each of the caramel sets, just way more popular and highly collected (like BCD who collects them). I still have a collection of horizontal caramels, but have been slowly selling my lower grades of each example I have multiples of. However, if these prices keep escalating, I might be selling the higher grades as well!

I do thank BCD for "turning me on" to the horizontals before this recent rise in prices!
