This just got posted to the SABR 19c list. This is a great source if you want to hear original recording of Casey at the Bat, Take Me Out to the Ball Game, etc.

I like to sit outside drink beer and yell at people. If I did this at home I would be arrested, so I go to baseball games and fit right in.

perfectly ordinary, rather large, chain of drug stores, and came across a good sized clay model of Abbott and Costello. With a switch on it..he switched it on, and the ENTiRE "Who's on First?": came tumbling out, nice clear recording. He brought it to a checker, who said "We've had that thing for a year--nobody wants it." he got it for $3...

Case of wrong marketplace--I guess. Wish I'd gotten there first.

The direct links (as Jay mentioned, posted originally on the 19th century list and thanks to John Thorn)are at

Casey at the Bat, De Wolf Hopper recording of 1906, free mp3 download at:

http: //www.archive.org/download/DeWolfHopper/DeWolfHopper-CaseyattheBat.mp3

Edward Meeker singing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" (1908) at:

http: //www.archive.org/download/EdwardMeeker/EdwardMeeker-TakeMeOuttotheBallGame.mp3

Harvey Hindermyer's version of the above is at:

http: //www.archive.org/download/HarveyHindermyer/HarveyHindermyer-TakeMeOuttotheBallGame.mp3

(I have put a space in between http: and the // as net54 won't post direct links to mp3 files, apparently.
