Dan---same photo was used in 55 and 56. Both sets are pretty grim, but in my experience by far the toughest issued ( as opposed to unissued test sets) Topps sets to complete. Another tough Topps quest would be to get all the colored line variants on his 1956 cards

Rare Ted Williams stuff
Here's the rare #68 card (Ted signs for 1959) in my set. Is this 4+ card panel unique ? Or, has anyone else seen an original uncut 1959 Fleer sheet (or partial sheet) ?
A bit of trivia here...… in 1952, Ted took flight training at the Willow Grove Naval Air Base, which is only a 20-minute drive from my house. TED Z T206 Reference . |
