Default Ban shifts?

Nope, banning them is silly.
But let this happen a few times, and there will be fewer shifts.

It has already been fed into the algorithm as a batted ball that would have been a single to right but was booted by the properly-placed infielder. Hence credit the shift as once again being successful. Run scores deemed irrelevant.

Yep, a hard bunt towards third would have resulted in the same run scoring, but also a runner on second (or maybe third).

Professional hitters should learn how to f'ing bunt.

Truly comical to watch. But then, much of the game is a joke now.

Hitters need to "hit 'em where they ain't" and that will get rid of the shift.

The pitcher technically should have covered either 3rd or home plate.

Maybe some Little League coaches can come in and give these guys a few pointers...

Are there any stats on how well it worked against Ted Williams? Anecdotally, he was too stubborn to go the other way, and it worked to some extent. Although given his stats that seems implausible.

Gwynn might have batted .750 against a shift.

A bunt to beat the shift is a thing of beauty when done well:

Where’s today’s Nellie Fox?

Hit to all fields, bunted and struck out less than 20 times a year. Yes, less than 20 times a season for his entire career.

He would be a hall of fame manager in today’s game.

Deadening the ball a little bit would also force hitters to be more creative with using the entire field.

For shockingly few strikeouts, watch Nick Madrigal. He’s currently injured, but was unbelievable pre-injury.
