Default Opinion of DiMaggio autographs

Posted By: jackgoodman

There have been alot of threads about autopen, secretarial and clubhouse signatures on this board, so I was hoping the autograph experts could opine on the rumor (probably true) that Joe DiMaggio's sister would sign alot of his autographs by mail during the 50's and 60's.

Was this the case? Does the sister's signature have any value? And how do you tell the difference? Any knowledge shared would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that there are a few of Dimaggio sisters signatures that are worth a few dollars - those that have a COA/LOA by PSA/DNA stating they are Joe's signature. Of course I'm being facetious.

Joe Jackson signatures signed by his wife have value, and you will see those from time to time. Mrs. Shoeless had nice handwriting so you'll never confuse it with Joe's childlike handwriting.

Joe DiMaggio's sister signed for him in the 1970's. Her signature is worthless.

They do have a small market value. I have sold them in the past for $10 each or so and people are happy to pay that for some reason because it was not a common forger but a relative. If DiMaggio had stamped his name there would be a small market, similar here.
