Default Paypal F/F......They are watching you

I have been selling a good many high value antiques outside of Ebay and recently had my Paypal account "restricted" until I provided several items to Paypal (copy of license or passport, explanation of certain transactions, etc) One of the transactions was a $1,000 loan repayment that was sent to me as F/F (which is permissible as a non fee transaction). The largest transaction was a $14,500 payment properly transacted as goods and services which generated the regular PP fees. I guess the high $$ transactions have caught their eye. Not sure if they monitor all of these $100-$200 F/F sales but just a warning to be careful when selling and requesting payment as F/F. Too bad more people don't use Venmo.

I never use Venmo or PayPal F/F for transactions. PayPal G/S offers buyer and seller protection that F/F or Venmo doesn't. If your package is lost, you're shit out of luck. Why would anyone forfeit that protection to save a few bucks? Its like health insurance, you don't appreciate it until you need it.

Two points:

Venmo is owned by PayPal anyway

Venmo is now allowing goods and services transactions with buyer protection

PayPal closed the account of someone I know, then eBay followed suit and closed his account--I suppose eBay thought he was going around them in sales which may've been the case-- if someone buys from me through BST I want goods and service payment not f/f and will add that to my future posts--

Totally agree. A small price to pay for peace of mind.

If possible, Zelle is a great option. The money is in your bank account within minutes.

If you're having issues with your account after making friends & family payments, it's most likely due to something else. I've sent and received hundreds of transactions, possibly even a thousand or more, with people via PayPal friends & family in other hobbies and from playing poker or fantasy sports with friends. We use it all the time. Transactions ranging from $20 to $20k+, all via friends & family. Many of those even being international transfers. Granted, it's a much closer and trustworthy community of people than the sports card hobby, but I have never had issues with my account and neither have my friends.

I do only minor payments over F/F. Anything over $100 and I use Goods and Services. Enough stories just on this site of transactions gone wrong.

Zelle is great for friendly transactions. No fees and as you said, instant funds. I offer it to my clients to pay my bills and several of them are using it.

I recently used it to pay Lelands and REA and I even took a Zelle payment at the National.

What buyer protection is offered when you accept a goods payment?

PayPal G/S covers buyers if the package is lost or the item is not as described.

PayPal G/S covers sellers against chargebacks or unauthorized payments.

If one uses a service, then lies to get out of paying for that service, its really nothing more than stealing. I know many disagree with me and that's fine. JMO

I love the option that some auction houses have of accepting Zelle payments. It's so much easier for me than having to mail payment off(I've even had one of my payments lost before). I wish more auction houses would allow this form of payment, though I'm not sure what if any liability they could possibly face accepting it.

Zelle offers no buyer protection either. If you pay by check, at least you can get your bank involved in case of a dispute.

I Like Zelle for smaller purchases but again no buyer protection.
The issue for many is that the banks have daily limits on what you can send each day. That could be a problem if the purchase is over the limit and also if the Auction House does not want to deal with multiple payments over multiple days and the accounting end of it.

Pay pal is fine with me. Has protection, has fees but it allows me to pay by credit card with the Services offer where with Friends and Family it is considered a cash advance and very expensive
