Default Virtual Mayo Set

Virtual Pre-War Sets Network 54 Vintage Card Forum:

Round 1: 1895 N300 Mayo Cut Plug

Few of us will ever complete full sets of obscure or hard to come by cards. However if all the members of the board pool our resources we may be able to complete virtual sets online for all of us to enjoy.

My thoughts are simple each member will post picture of a card from the below checklist along with a short story of how you obtained your card until the set is complete. If you are unable to post please feel free to email me a scan of your card and if it’s not up I will gladly post it for you with your name.

I have chosen the Mayo because it’s the next set I plan to go after I thought it would be neat to see the varying conditions and cards that reside in our collective collections. I look forward to your posts.

P.S. I promise if you email me a picture of your card I won’t list it on eBay for $30 as a gift from dear old Granddad.

I realize that this posting is supposed to be to let everyone see what an entire set of Mayo's look like but a PSA4 on that Anson - I'm guessing that the back must be pretty clean because that front says I'm a challenged "3" to begin with. Don't mean to rain on the parade but wow - that was a very generous grade. With that out of the way lets move and see some more neat Mayo cards.

The BOTTOM TWO (Rusie and Delahanty) will be up for sale in the next Robert Edward Auction ... probably with some of my HOF Old Judge cards that are slabbed.

Neat thread -

Here's Cross and Duffy. They're not the greatest examples but they'll fit.

The Hamilton and Ward I bought from Terry Knouse; the Robinson I won from Mastro (SGC 50), and the Ewing I won from Sloate.

Bought this from Glenn Mechanick at a Gloria Rothstein Show in White Plains, New York years ago when those shows were still worth attending.

The shadow over his right shoulder (in the "Pittsburgh" variation) is typical.

I am now tapped OUT, guys!
