Yes, it was co-wrote. I should have been more clear. Awesome book, as well. It is definitely a treasure trove of information, and beautiful to look at. So you all have my gratitude.

Cool cards, all!

This Baker is a 1914 in a PSA 3 holder.

My first Hal Chase card...

And picked up earlier this week as a BIN on eBay, for a pretty good price imo...

Cabinet card of Mike Simon(circa 1906-1908). States Peoria in pencil at bottom. Assume this is same cabinet mentioned
in thread(back in 2007). Picture of cabinet in that thread gone. I included cracker jack card(not mine) and M116(again,
not mine) for comparison. Simon played for Pitt, St. Louis,Brooklyn, catcher from 1909 to 1915. Assume Peoria was a
minor league team before he went to majors.

It's been quite a while since I've made a pre-war purchase... Hopefully this can help get me out of my modern funk, and back towards vintage..

Prize Fight cdv

I posted this over in the memorabilia sub-forum, but it's interesting in that it is an 1865 cdv and looks almost exactly like the mount on the Brooklyn Atlantics cdv. The main difference is that this one only has advertising on one side, which is typical of old cdv's: advertising either on the front or the back, but not both. Not saying it didn't happen, but I haven't seen many (any?) positive-date items from the 1860's that have advertising on both sides. Also notice that the albumen image fits nicely into the space designed for it (a very easy feat to accomplish).

Also note that the albumen image extends right to the point where the front stamp would have been, leaving the bottom open for signatures. We saw a letter recently from the monster Sherman to Sarony, asking that Sarony leave his advertising off the bottom front, so that Sherman could use that space for signatures.

Default T206 3 Finger with a little guy on the back

I picked this up from a fellow board member. Really cool back with two stamps. One that reads "B. H. Rosso" and also a little cartoon guy. Has anyone else seen this stamp before and if so, any info on the back-story? Thanks, Steve

While I might pick one or two others as nicest looking, I can't argue that the Baker is a great looking card. The beauty is subtle. From the peaceful, almost haunting look in Baker's eyes to the way his image is slightly left of center, placed boldly against the Cracker Jack red background.

Thanks. I'm learning Frank has a lot of cool cards. But you probably already knew that.

I will have to practice on the auctionspeak....

Even corner wear consistent with a VG-EX example and reasonably clean surfaces contribute to the fine aesthetics, and, unbeknownst to the casual observer, the uncompromising demeanor of this cardboard specimen's resolve harkens back to an era of effervescent....

Love this because of centering, not the usual OJ, and relatively strong image. Not sure why "A"--if you want to hazard a guess, please do. Paper loss on back seems minor...

Nice image but I suspect Foutz is the recipient of a new back. Looks like the albumen print (photo) falls short of reaching the back on more than one border. So I suspect it is graded "A" due to being re-backed. Perhaps you can tell me otherwise with the card in hand.

Could be, but doesn't SGC usually put "re-backed" or "skinned" at the top?

A couple blockbuster deals lately have brought in around 200 HOFers, but I won't bore you with 200 pics! Here's just a few that I've recently picked up that I liked. Sorry for the large pics.

I am collecting the earliest HOF card I can possibly get of each player. In my mind all 300 cards I have (one card per player) is available for trade or sale as long as I'm getting something I can replace it with.

I agree with Joe, rebacked and possibly trimmed a little bit on the bottom and left side. It's still a beautiful example, many of the Browns Champ cards have a weak photo.
