I have made some bad buys in the past, but I was lucky enough to grab a "Babe Ruth" e121 psa 1 before Elvis left the building. I was hoping to grab the bird and montage one day, those used to be very reasonable, maybe they still are.

I just looked. $15,000 with the juice. "Babe" sold for $50,000.

Thanks for sending those over. Looks like Babe holding Bird is getting more attention. I think people like those early Ruth caramel cards. Plus a psa 4 doesn't come around often.

I agree. The holding bird was only at 7000 when I commented earlier about it. It was a nice card. I'm looking for the lower grade examples. He had a low grade Montage in February that I should have bought. I was right there, I just didn't make the bid. Always a next time.

They're all getting up there. A PC Back Exhibit Ruth portrait in a 5 went for $33K+ earlier this month. That's some serious respect.

I'll go with the #144 because I love those pinstripes against the colorful background and I am not a fan of oversized cards. Also, if a possible future sale is a consideration, the Goudey is on more want lists and thus likely more readily liquid. In the end, as many have said, one cannot go wrong; it all comes down to personal preference and it is always splitting hairs to some degree when choosing among Ruths, Mantles, Cobbs, any blue chip super desirable pieces.
