This listing intrigues me. It stinks to high heaven (all the tell-tale signs: I'm not a card grader, bought at estate sale, no paypal, etc.). However, I can't see anything "wrong" with the card. It just looks too good to be true given the other aspects of the listing. |

I was watching it. Might have taken a chance at a lower price..but for $400 plus I didn't think it would get above a PSA 2 to begin with...with the crease mentioned and the scuffing markes or whatever |

Just from looking at the scan it looks like a genuine card. There is an odd tint to the picture though which could be accidental or purposefully done to obscure the true color of the card. It looks genuine as far as the type set goes, but the right side border looks a little funny to me. Normally I would say that a seller with over 800 feedback could be trusted, but no longer since I have busted guys this year with 3000+ feedback shilling their auctions by having relatives and friends bid on theor items. One guy even had an arrangement with another card/comic shop owner in his town where they would bid up each others items on Ebay when asked to do so. |

Did you see the '34 Gehrig from the same guy? Now THAT looks like a P.T. Barnum special if I ever saw one. Yet so many people bidding it up. |

I agree that it looks suspicious, but tempting based on the card. I wouldn't be worried that the card is real, but that you'll ever see it. I remember someone from the board took a chance on a REAL nice looking t206 Keeler batting on Ebay a few years back and it came back a PSA9 after it was sent in for grading. |

Bill....did you think based on that picture and description that the Johnson would grade higher than a 2 or SGC 30? assuming its real... |

Just based on the picture three corners looked real sharp with the lower left (I think) with a minor ding in it. If there isn't any paper loss I would think it has a shot at a 5 or 6....but then again, wtf do I know? |

Kenneth is correct. That 34 Gehrig is a fake. |

The Gehrig looks a little bit like this eh! Not a fake, just a reprint. |

Who ever wins this auction is going to get what they deserve. No returns, etc. Flea market, locker sales, estate sales... RUN, DON'T WALK from this auction. If the final sale price was very minimal you might want to take a chance. Does anyone really need the kind of frustration and aggravation that you'd get from receiving reprints? If a seller can't/wont back up his material then why take a chance. |

Ask yourself this question; If the seller has all the RED FLAGS plus their feedback rating is 98.8 AND they know about grading companies, then WHY wouldn't they have it or the Gehrig, Ruth or the other card (1938 Goudey Williams?) graded? |

I suppose what struck me was the contrast between the two auctions. The Gehrig being so blatantly fake that even I could tell - and the the T206 Johnson that looked (at least to me) to be authentic. |

I think all of the cards are reprints. I'd not pay the shipping fees for the cards. |
