Default BOLO Missing T206 Matty Portrait LOCATED!!

This card disappeared from my showcase Booth 1248 at the National sometime on Saturday July 29th. I'd really appreciate a heads up if anyone sees it pop up anywhere. Thanks.

That sucks Frank. Do you have a back scan in case they break it out of the holder it's in and try and sell it.

Added back scan. Thanks Pat. Note the print marks along the top border. Not sure how PSA missed that, but it does give the card a "fingerprint".

That sucks. Do you have an inkling as to how the theft transpired? With the reported crowds it was likely easier to get a hand in a case.

Default Matty

Yes, the card was in the corner of the front row of my showcase, easy pickings. My bad. Next year the good stuff will be in the last row.

Do your display cases have the side acrylic side panels like the case in the following link?

https://www.specialtystoreservices.c...SABEgKNRvD_BwE

I play with the idea of eventually setting up at show, hence the questions. I would be beyond pissed if some lowlife stole cards. You must have other high priced material, because I would have kept one eye fixed on the Matty. I am sure it was chaotic busy with sales being made and boom card is gone.

Thanks.

Do not use cases with acrylic side panels. Always have the cases closed and locked unless you are retrieving a card to show someone or placing a card back into the case. Locked cases are not fail proof but having cases unlocked or using side panels with the showcase open is asking for trouble, especially at a busy show like the National, Philly, etc.

Default Found!

The incredible Brian Weisner has found my Matty for sale on Facebook! My good friend and attorney Josh Adams has filed a police report for me in Rosemont. The police are now reviewing video from July 29th (the last day I saw the card). Stay tuned....

Just found it as well. I wonder if all the other guys cards for sale are stolen as well...? Won't out it because I want the cops to find him before he knows we know. Assuming that's what the op wants as well.

First, I’m so happy you found this card. Second, I had this childlike hope when I opened this thread that there was going to be an “aww, shucks” moment where you misplaced it somehow. But, humans being humans, it wasn’t the case.

So, how do you get the card back? I’m definitely curious.

Brian has reached out to the guy on Facebook and we await his reply. We have his name and location and I have a copy of my REA invoice and pictures of the card in my case in Chicago. I'm hopeful I'll get Matty back, preferably without involving the police.

Do you think the FB guy is the thief or just an innocent purchaser from the thief?

Frank, that is really great you found the card. I hope you get it back in one piece. When this is over do you mind telling us who the person is, assuming you think they are a thief or are knowingly selling stolen goods. It would be nice to know this is so we don’t deal with him (and maybe get screwed) in the future.

I would advise against any of this contacting people on facebook or even posting about it. You may be compromising the investigation.

Very wise. May also be a good idea to temporarily lock this thread? In the meantime, any pertinent information that anybody may wish to provide can be forwarded via PM to OP or his attorney. Just a thought.

FYI....I was the one who had the Mathewson...clearly wasnt hiding it as it was posted multiple places. I was just stuck in the middle of an unfortunate situation, but to let everyone know the situation was resolved. I am only posting as to be sure no one thinks that I was invoived in anything shady. Reputations are built over time but can be destroyed in a day.

Everyone was holding their breath hoping it would end well, so now it's time for us all to jump to our feet and do a (virtual) 'wave' in celebration like we used to do at the stadium during games!!!!!!!!!!

Nobody is explaining what happened. Typical Net 54, at least so far. If mdube16 bought the card from the thief, that's just a thankless position to be in, because he doesn't lawfully own the card, and his only recourse is against the thief and good luck usually with that.

I guess we'll never know.

Accusatory thread opens, card re-appears and then nada. I guess there must be some investigation still going on...

Ok, so is there a story to this? OP indicates stolen card. Card located and that's it? There's got to be more to this.
