Default Hake's Auction Last Night - Someone Paid Up for Weed

The Hake's auction last night had a lot of great stuff in it. The red backed Crofts seemed to do very well, and I was a bidder, just not the high bidder. Congrats to the winner(s) on those.

Also, curious of what others thought of the prices on the CSG cards? There were quite a few of them.

And I was surprised that this Weed brought so much!!

Leon, if you were the one who ran the red crofts up, you were being mean. They went for way more than I was expecting so I was only able to add the Devlin to my set. Thankfully, I already had a Bemis.

I bid strong but think there were some other bidders up there too. Sorry about that. I would have liked to have had one, but have a lot of expenses going on...and unlike some on here, I am not made out of money (but I wish I was!!) Congrats on your pick up!

There were some great team PCs in that auction--I stupidly failed to place my bids on a couple of them, although I would have lost on the Edmonton Eskimos anyway.

That Weed PC is neat. I wondered why they had a guy from Chico in the photo, whose white uniform sticks out. I saw that he (Cotton Brooks) had beaten Weed on September 15, 1912 while pitching for Chico. Apparently teams could draft players from other teams for tournaments or playoffs.

Cool stuff from Hakes, as usual.

Congrats on the Devlin DJ, I was on the Bemis but bowed out, congrats to the winner.

Leon, I was watching that Weed PC too, neat card.

I won these incredible postcards for next to nothing. I was wondering if these postcards were not very valuable or did i get a really good deal?

There are 100s of thousands (my guess) of these types of generic baseball postcards. I have hundreds and have sold off hundreds over the last several years
Unless there is something extraordinary, nice ones, go for $20-$50 each..... I pay more for the very best ones....but that is about what those type go for...

These baseball scenes might go for around a 50-100...

And the women postcards might go for about the same, maybe a little more for really nice ones.

Those are very nice! What I was surprised about with the ones I bought is that they feature major leaguers in them. The Albany Senators one shows Rube Kroh for sure. The Trojans one might show Carl Lundgren but I havent positively identified him yet.

Man, my $33 bid didn’t hold up! If the winner wants to reach out to me, I have a few rppc postcards from that same region near Mt. Shasta. I will even dust off the scanner and fire it up if requested.

DJ, it wasn’t me - I didn’t bid, as I find Hake’s can be tough to maneuver with all the different stuff they list. Congrats on Devlin

Thanks to all who participated in the auction!

Rhotchkiss- hopefully you will revisit our site for a future auction.

It is true that we offer many different types of items, usually all in one auction, but we have search features set up to help navigate.

At the top left is a drop down box of all the categories.

Front and center under the auction section is a text link stating-
Browse Current Auction Categories.

In both of these features, every different sport has it own category.
Also we have links to just the TPG cards and one for raw/other cards.

We also have Spotlight Sections and Featured Collections for every Premier Auction that almost always have baseball entries and these have thumbnail photos of items from those categories.

And if all of that still does not work for you, we would be happy to send a catalog for those that we do a printed version.

Thanks again everyone.

I appreciate the post Alex. You guys have real cool stuff for sure (two red Crofts is beast - you rarely see when 1!!), I just find it tough to locate the stuff I collect. I will definitely give the site another try next auction and refer back to your post if I need help (and I often need help!)
