Default Wheaties "Card" Grading

Hi everyone,
Picked up a Wheaties series 1 Lou Gehrig card recently and planning to send it to PSA or SGC. But was wondering how these are graded. This example has parts of the box still, and has not been cleanly trimmed. I would not trim it down to keep the aesthetics intact. But wondering how they would grade this since its not cleanly cut out. I am assuming it would be a 1 at best since part of the tear goes into the right border, and the bottom right edge is cut off.

Would love some input!
Thanks,
Ankur

Since the trimming was cut into the frame here & there
I would suspect the grade by PSA/SGC would be "Authentic"

Definitely authentic.

Of course, every once in a while you get a frisky grader with a wild hair up his nose, and he’ll slap a 6 on it!

I would say it is AUTHENTIC, but who knows how they will grade it, I have seen many of this issue with partial borders that have been given numerical grades, usually part of the border is trimmed all the way around, not actually missing chunks like yours.

100% that card will grade Authentic due to the right border. I would trim the bottom a bit, just to improve the eye appeal of the card before it gets holdered. Maybe a bit of cleanup on the other sides also.

I would absolutely X-Acto knife the top, the left side, and the bits of white sticking out of the right to 'high class' it up a bit, while retaining the "Wheaties" on the bottom.

As such...

LOL. ...

"Authentic Unaltered" would seem appropriate, if it's available. And that is unless the writing on it makes it authentic altered?

This, and I would erase the 12 also since it’s getting an Authentic grade anyway.

Nah, just cut the Wheaties off at the bottom with the 12. Otherwise they might have to put it in a slab for much larger cards, and it will be nonstandard for collectors of the set (hard to store or ship).

Welp! SGC said it’s too large to encapsulate

Some cards were intended to be cut by the collector. This is one of them. Just cut the card.

No need to get it encapsulated. Cut down as you wish and put in a top-loader or album page.

If you want to get the card encapsulated, you'll need to send it to PSA. I believe SGC's largest holder is 6x9 while PSA goes up ton 8x11 for their jumbo holder.

Kewl cards. I like the 30s look to them. It's a shame the middle one received an AUT for that minor miscut at top. Personally, I am not sure if I want mine graded (when I pick up some types in the future). It would probably increase their value in slabs though.
