I won a non-graded card for $130 and they charged $8.45 to ship. It was well packaged and sent pronto. No complaints here. It seems reasonable to me that they would ask more to ship several graded cards, and not much more at that.

Personally, if I had an issue with shipping charges I would take it up with the seller first and NOT make a post on a public board, especially over a few dollars.

Default James - You mean something like this?

Just won a lot of 80 odd raw cards in Huggins & Scott - They can ship for about $3 via 1st Class & $5 via Priority actual cost.....Insurance around $17 --- Was charged $31 -- Just a few bucks, but nearly 50% over cost - Nice little profit center

Tim,

Here! Here! I concur............Huggins used to be very reasonable with their shipping charges, but for the past year or so, they sure seem to have jacked-up the shipping profits costs.

Lovely Day...

I wonder if the auction houses all recruit volunteers to do packing and shipping so they have no expense there.

I brought the topic up, so I will respond. I just spoke with Mile High...and after speaking with them I realize I was being pretty petty. I wish I could be "petty free" all the time, but I wasn't in this instance. Maybe I just woke up on the wrong side....regardless, I will be wiser in the future.

Jim, shipping is supposed to be just that - shipping. Auction houses charge 15% - 20% premiums on top of the selling fee, and I would think any operational expenses should be coming from premiums, commissions, etc. - NOT from overcharging for shipping.

Just like any other business, auction houses charge what they are allowed to by the market. If they can get a 20% buyers premium and maybe some sellers premium and cover all their shipping department costs in their shipping charges they will. If competition forces them to "cover" their shipping department costs themselves out of the buyers and or sellers premiums then that is what will happen. If the market dictates that there are no sellers fees (or negative sellers fees-which do exist), 10% buyers fees, and actual postage costs only, then that is what will happen. The competition and the consumer ultimately determine the fee structure, not any particular auction house.

I was unaware of any issues on our end. We have alway tried to be fair and I will speak with those who deal with shipping and our policies for some insight.
