Default Vintage Card Art (kinda)

I have a tremendous affinity for the classic pieces of art that are baseball cards. This project I’ve been working on includes digital embellishments using an iPad, moving the image to Photoshop where I add more details and ultimately print on transparent sheets.

After printing, the backside of the player is hand painted white to give the front image opaqueness. The sheet is then laid on holographic vinyl and adhered to thick stock. The opaque player outline contrasts with the holographic vinyl and the end result is a stunning (in my opinion) color display for these vintage images.

It’s not the norm here but thought I’d share these handmade pieces I’ve done in this series.

Great looking pieces Joel, very creative, while still doing justice to the original card.

Lou Leroy and Ty are tripping, but Honus just has a bit of a buzz. Sort of matches looks in the images, you just know Honus is the DD.

Those look really cool overall, and must be nicer in person.

Nice work! Love these... especially Satchel. I bet this creative process would work well with most of the 48-49 Leaf Sets in particular!

Appreciate that! They’re already stunners, just adding some juice.
