Default SGC Grading Success Story

I recently submitted a 1965 Topps Joe Namath that I purchased a few weeks ago on eBay to SGC. I paid extra for the 2 day grading, however, was a bit concerned after reading the grading companies were not meeting deadlines. I wanted it graded quickly in the event there was an issue with the card being authentic.

I mailed the card usps “priority” on Monday, September 28. I just received the card back today. It graded a “2”. Based on this positive experience I will be submitting additional cards to SGC that I have purchased earlier this year and a number of winnings from the recent Boston Sportcard Exchange Auction. I’ve attached a picture of the graded 65 Topps Namath. Tom

I used their "Need It Now" service a few weeks ago on a '58 Mantle and was very pleased. They received the card on a Friday, and had it graded and on it's way back to me by 5 pm Monday. Not cheap, but at least it's what's promised when you do pay.

PSA traditionally takes awhile to even open all their mail and log your cards as "received." I'm not sure if this applies to the expedited / pricey orders as well. I've never submitted to PSA, but know at least in the past they would want you to mark your packages on the outside as to the service you had ordered. Who knows.

Does that mean a 2 day service criteria is based on the day the package was reported to have been opened by the TPG?

For PSA:

Holy cow - I just looked it up and a 2 day service is $200/card (card value < $4,999).

If declared card value > $100,000, then it's $5K to have the card graded.

Update, received an email 10/13/2020 saying they are processing the order. So 2 weeks after they received for anyone else who may be waiting.

Great looking Namath Rookie. I'm still looking for the right PSA 4 to come along for my girls Registry set. She has all the others 1966 to 1973 and a small group of the Odd Ball releases. Seems like you had a great turn around time but at a cost. But there are so many reprints of this card, I understand the urgency. I'd buy one raw but just don't know enough to be comfortable about it. I'll stick with raw T206's all day long though.
