Default 1956 Promotional Sample

Has anyone seen one of these before?

It's small - it measures 1.5 x 2 inches.

Thanks for the information. I appreciate it. It seemed strange that I hadn't seen anything like it before.

Default Fake

Fake as above post indicates but very slick to make it a “common” to try and fly under the radar. No question these were made to deceive. You dodged a bullet !!!

These are a pretty idea for a fake, I see how people think they could be legit at first. I wondered the same thing when I first encountered them. They aren’t all that common and are kind of cool in an odd way

When Lemke first listed these as fakes in the SCD catalog I knew right away I had to have one. Mine is a 1965 Aaron. It is not the only fake Topps item he included in the Catalog. In my view listing them, even as fakes, gave them a collectible value, despite his pronouncement to the contrary. From the Topps Surf books

I recall seeing some of those for sale in the early ebay days. I think I bid on a few at the time, but never won. Good thing.

I have never seen a "promotional" sample as depicted above. Kind of neat, but I will stick to the salesman samples. I only have a few in my collection
