Default Advice on Opening a sports card business

I realize a lot of us here are just casual collectors but am hoping there are some that buy/sell sports collectibles for a living.

I’m thinking of starting my own sports card business. It would be online only aside from attending shows and I’m hoping to get advice from the Pros, anyone that’s willing to give it.

How did you get started? Do’s and don’ts? What to stay away from? How to get distributors?

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

What kind of business?
Breaking, retail, boxes, singles, vintage, modern?

What inventory do you already have? Do you plan to sell via eBay, COMC, Sportlots, myslabs, Facebook marketplace, PWCC, etc?

What level of investment are you willing to make?

Obviously being in Dallas, you have some advantages with local shows, card shops, and customer base. But your ability to buy cheap collections to flip will be difficult with so many competitors.

What is your main goal? To make a living? To turn your collection into money? Your request is a little too vague for people to help you with, IMO.

Lay out your basic concept of operations.

Here's a similar thread on the main modern sportscard forum.
