Im kinda wondering right now whether the difference between "I don't collect them" and "I don't collect them at all" is greater or lesser than the difference between crouching and crouching way down.

N cards (I don't collect them) = I haven't payed to much attention too this cards, but I'm sure I'll get in to them at one point!

W cards (I don't collect them at all) = I don't like strip cards. (IMO) I don't consider hand cut cards to be "cards", I know they are' but I'm just not in to them.

I'm very surprised that some W cards can even get a number grade (there all hand cut right?)

R cards (I don't collect them)= I only collect pre 30's

Aw heck, here we go again with certain "W" cards getting bad rap.

I just don't see how one can compare those cartoonish looking hacksaw job strip-cards with the real photo seemingly factory cut from sheets and perhaps mis-catalogued as "W's" - aka w575's, w502's.

I agree the cartoonish cards are not appealing in any way. But the w575's and w502's are very nice - very nice indeed - and, ahem, I think (in my humble opinion) should not fall into the category as those horrible cartoonish things !!!

Just my opinion, Steve

I was mainly kidding, Brad, about that "don't collect .." stuff. But thank you for the clarification.

And no, not all w- cards are hand cut, nor are all of them crudely drawn. It appears that Burdick used the w- designation as a junk box that contained cards which he was not sure how to designate, in addition to genuine strip cards.

Actually, I like the crudely drawn and often crudely cut strip cards of the twenties. They are to me a part of baseball card Americana which is unrivaled by any other issue group. And the variations in production are matched by the different cutting choices and skill levels of the original owners. Beautiful? No.

Seeking these in high grade seems to me to defeat one of the reasons to accumulate these crude cards, but like Hal says CWYWC.
