Default T205 Hoffman Variation

This isn't my card but just a scan I have found on the net.

I have seen a few t205 Hoffman cards with a stripe of color change in the background green. Has anyone done the research on this variation and know how often it shows up? I see that it is rarer than the normal version, but didn't know if anyone had a larger pool of numbers to have a better picture of the overall numbers.

Of all the completed auctions showing on ebay yours is the only one. Of all the active there is only 1. You paid a good price if t205 variations ever pick up like t206s do.

As I've built my set 125/208 I've picked up registry errors and miscuts for basically no premium. Didn't even notice the Hoffman, doubt it will ever be worth a premium, would be cool to know scarcity tho.

Very neat. I have 2 - both are without stripe.

Do all the ones with the "stripe" have the same back?

I found another going through cardtarget photos (still going through them slowly) and it also has a Sweet Cap black 42 back just as the other ones I have found, but I have also found SC black 42s without the stripe so if it is exclusive to this back it didn't last through the entire run.

Damn! This is one of the last variations I was collecting off the grid...

So, here is what I know so far...it appears it was a problem on the sweet cap black sheets. I know Dean's Cards has one that is a black 25 and I have seen 42 as well. I have seen stripes that are more yellow fading to almost invisible.

Joe's Vintage has a 25 Black with no stripe...

I will try to pull out my binder and check later today (I think I have around 15-20 Hoffmans currently).

Obviously my research just began the last couple of days but until you pointed out the Dean's I hadn't found a back scan of one that wasn't a 42. So it is interesting to me that it does run through two backs and doesn't cover every card with that back (Like the Mathewson 1 loss on all cycle).

I just noticed that Hoffman also comes with a yellow second base or white second base. Does anyone have info on which is rarer? On a quick perusing of a few of the card target photos it seems like a 50/50.
