Default As I See It....

There are many different kinds of people on Net54 who have a shared interest in sports and non-sports trading cards. What their motivations and intentions are, I don't really care. I've also never understood the "true collector vs investor" gatekeeping I see on here and other non-Net54 boards as well. It just reeks of one side or the other trying to feel more superior over something really, in the grand scheme of things, trivial. I've learned a ton on here, have seen some great cards that I'd either never seen before or even knew existed, and managed to do a handful of transactions (buying and selling) on the B/S/T. If I ever saw a thread and wasn't interested in it, I'd skip by it and move along to something more in tune to my interests.

I joined the board about 12.5 years ago now and never had any issue with it. Don't fix what isn't broke.

^^This...but also, I think a lot of members cross into both spectrums. For example..there are many on this thread even that huff and puff about being collectors,...but I see them posting for "graded only" on their WTB listings....for modern cards...which to me reeks of investing. I am not a collector that likes to slab per se....but I get it for pre-war or autos for authenticity reasons or for preservation...but when you start talking about graded cards in the last 30 years...it tips the scales to smell like investing to me...which is OK...just be honest with yourselves that there is probably a little investor in most of the collectors here. I am guilty of this to some point as well.

Another topic which I posted in as well kind of indicates this..the Topps purchase thread...I posted about the collecting aspect of it and how the purchase will affect that...and no responses...almost all posts are about the business side of why how when etc. Which I could care less about.....I just wanna know will they produce sets so I can continue my set run.

Not all, but enough to put a damper on the investment chatter.
*Then This Wil Be a Grand Time to Invest (:
