Default Topps Basketball Sets 1970-80

I have a childhood friend who collected basketball like I did baseball. I ran into him at a funeral for a mutual friend a couple of weeks ago. Some how at the reception we started talking cards. I asked him what happened to his collection. He explained he still had it but had not looked at it in over 20 years. He was unaware of the potential value and is now considering selling as he is in his late 50s and has no children to leave them to. I told him I could help him out. Today he sent me photos of a few examples he dug out. They look beautiful. I am meeting him this weekend and will review them more closely. He has complete sets for the years mention above and he says condition wise they are all consistent with these examples. If he sells them obviously he should grade them. Which TPG is best for basketball cards?

Those are fantastic. It pains me to say this - Bc I dislike the company - but PSA will likely fetch top $$

Thanks that is what I suspected I would hear. I have never paid to grade a card but I feel obligated to help him maximize his collection.

Give it to a good auctioneer: they can get better rates, faster turnaround times, and will handle the decision as to which cards to grade.
