Default 1910 T220 Mecca Boxing question

For any of you boxing card experts out there - with the set in question (1910 T220 Mecca Boxing), I've found lots of cards (including commons) that have some noticeable size discrepancies. They're almost all right at 2 1/2 inches in width, but I have several that vary in length - including PSA graded examples. Is it common with this set to have some size variations or do I have some trimmed cards on my hands? I always hesitate to assume someone took the time and energy to trim a common card - even when it's over 100 years old.

Thank you in advance for any feedback on the matter.

Jeff

First of all, be sure they are T218s (Mecca, Hassan or Tolstoi brands) and not T219s (Honest Long Cut, Miners Extra or Red Cross brands). T219s are smaller than T218s:

If you are sure as to which set you have, unfortunately, you probably have some trimmed cards. I've not noticed enough of a discrepancy in height of these cards to catch attention.

Perhaps you could post a scan or two?

Nope, they are definitely T220's.

T220 has Mecca and Tolstoi branding. T223 is smaller and is Dixie Queen.

Yes, they are all T220's with Mecca back. However, I have several cards with varying length. The width of 2 1/2 inches has been pretty consistent.

OK.

Actually I've had experience with T220 height variances but only on the taller side. I've had a few that were about 1/8" taller than normal. Usually, they have a band of excess wear across the top or bottom of the card front from being exposed in a stack. I've not seen any legit short cards.

Perhaps you could measure each one and post the results?

Thank you so much for feedback. I've seen several of the cards that feature two fighters that appear to be shorter in length than the single fighter cards. I also - as you have mentioned, have found a couple of cards that seem to be longer than the dimensions the cards are supposed to measure. I'll try to post some examples later when I have some time around my scanner.

Okay, upon further review - I think you're right. Most of the cards are either the correct length or a tad bit too long. I did pull three cards that were measuring short of 3 1/4" long.
- Jem Mace, Mike Donovan (of Today) & Charlie Goldman - all measure between 3 & 3/16 of an inch and 3 1/4" long. I'm assuming they've either been trimmed or miscut.
