Default What are these strips?

Now that the auctions are over...ebay listings tonight included a bunch of baseball strips that look like w 516 but have player names on top third of card.

Does anyone know what these are?

I'm not a strip card expert nor will I ever buy one, but this looks suspect to me. Printing is too clean.

They're 1920 W529's cut from the sheet. I tried to get the Ruth also, but missed out. From SGC's pop report, they also grade/holder the singles.

The bright white where paper seems to be missing on the Rajah seems off to me.

Looks fine to me. They are made of slick paper.

I've researched these cards for a few years and agree that your trimmed singles look good. There's a good chance their original sheets (notebook pages, as shown in Gary's scans) ended up better protected than other 1920s strip sets, explaining your cleaner fronts and backs.

All 12 photos on that sheet appear to be flipped from their originals. I show boxer Lew Tendler's source photo as part of this post about his W529-1 card.

nice Gary. Crazy that two sheets with completely different colored backgrounds have the same catalog number! Looking closer, purples on the left are red on the right, blue on the left is white on the right and green on the left is yellow on the right, that right sheet may be missing a blue pass?

Yep, the coloring is definitely different on the two sheets. I have not sure if that's intentional since the header on the sheets are different or it's a missing color pass as you said.

Not really. Batter-Ups are Batter-Ups and Exhibits are Exhibits regardless of tint. Looks like the same mfg: IFS.
