Default Is this card pressed?

I'm 75% sure these are press marks from where a crease/wrinkle once was.
Can a few people confirm for me?

Thanks!

Would be helpful to see the front of the card in that area. Something that leaves such a distinct appearance would likely have disrupted the front of the card and left evidence there too.

I personally cannot see any evidence at all on the front.

So we have the full context, what's happening here?

Did you buy the card already slabbed, and you're wondering whether or not you should return it? Or are you looking to purchase it and are concerned with the possible pressing? Or is it something else?

I am looking to purchase it and wondering if it's pressed.

I am going with not pressed but since I cannot offer an explanation for what is going on with the reverse, not sure I am going to be convincing. I think it is best to pass when in doubt. Good eye, regardless!

Default Pressed

I'm not seeing anything to indicate it was pressed. I haven't seen a white "glow" before though. It's a '52 and I've seen a lot of weird stuff over the years when people jammed them into pages and the top 1/4 inch stuck out. It appears it could be the same scenario here.

I agree with previous posts though....if you're uncertain; there are plenty of RS available that may be a more comfortable purchase.

I just read this article. https://www.beckett.com/news/how-tel...card-pressing/

Though I'm still unsure.

The main reason I'm pretty adamant on going for it is the centering is superb. And trying to find Reds Horizontal '52 centered well and in mid+ grade is actually very tough.

I would say it's a weird gray area then. It's possible/probable that the graders didn't think it was pressed. We hear all the time about submitters who got cards back ungraded/rejected, usually due to 'pressing' occurring in screwdowns, so it stands to reason that the graders specifically look for those types of things.

And, I hate to say it, whether or not you think it was pressed, it does sit with (I assume) a number on the slab, so it's 'worth' just as much as any other card with the same number when it comes to selling it later on. Sort of a sad plausible deniability thing, I guess. Not saying that it's right, of course, but it is the reality of the situation.

It's in a bvg 4.5 with subgrades. Being-

Centering 7.5 (undergraded, for a '52 it's close to a 9)

Corners 4

Edges 7

Surface 8.5......?

Very perplexing. Probably will go for it and see what sgc thinks.

No, it does not look pressed to me. That looks more like a tide line. Pressed 52 Topps cards will usually cause breaks in the front surface that are easy to see under magnification. It'll look like really tiny white dots in areas that should have deep color, and breaks in the surface gloss.

Also, I only collect perfectly centered 52s, and in my observation, Schoendeinst has been one of the easier cards in the set to find dead centered.

I vote it's too hard to tell but I would lean towards not being pressed, if I had to lean.

Must be bad timing looking for one. Seems about 1/100 have perfect centering. I don't even think I see a single one on eBay perfectly centered. Even this one has a slight tilt.

Purchased the Card Earlier today! Going to be going to sgc in the future. We'll see what they have to say.

Here it is fully. I think it's graded fairly harsh actually (if it's not pressed). Hoping for an sgc 5 maybe 5.5-6 if the grading wasn't so overly tough. Bvg undergraded? Impossible
