Default Insurance for Collection

Posted By: JimB

For many years now, I have kept my most valuable cards in my collection in a safety deposit box for obvious reasons. However, I would really like to enjoy them on a more regular basis at home. I began looking into some pretty serious safes for the home. I called my agent for home owner's insurance today to see about covering my cards and he is having problems finding anybody that will cover them. Does anybody have any suggestions on where to get coverage for a relatively substantial baseball card collection? Also, any input on safes as far as fire rating, weight, etc. would be appreciated. Thanks.

I recommend Gardall sales. They are fire and buglar rated but not cheap. You can do a search for someone who caries them in your area.

One note about safes:

If you have ever had your house or business burn down,
firemen get things pretty wet. Although many safes are called "Fire Proof" many of them are not water proof.

Be sure to ask about a water rating too, so you won't have to use that insurance policy.

Regards,
Nick
