Default Three of my rarest cards......

I acquired this unique gem in Cooperstown, NY in 1991. It is a significant piece of Baseball History, for there was no Major League WORLD SERIES played in 1904.
Mgr. John McGraw of the NY Giants (NL Champs) refused to play Boston (AL Champs). Therefore, the Eastern League (AAA) Buffalo Bisons became the de facto....
"1904 World Champions"

Speaking about McGraw......the only known McGraw (glove) card with a UZIT back.

Fall of 1952, BOWMAN issued this very artistic 144-card FB set. In order to compete with the very popular larger size 1952 Topps BB cards, Bowman re-sized
their regular set of FB cards. Then re-issued these larger size cards circa Winter of '52. I acquired this sheet in 1982, at a Hobby shop in Media, Pennsylvania

This unique sheet includes FB stars.....Sammy Baugh, Otto Graham, Y. A. Tittle, Charlie Justice, Charley Trippi, Hugh McElhenny, and Frank Gifford (rookie card).

Cool pieces, Ted.

I own this championship medal given to John McGraw for the 1904 season, declaring the Giants the champions for 1905 (issued in Oct of 1904, making then “champions” for the next season until a new champ is declared)

Thanks. Mile High has a Doyle coming to auction soon, so there is a rare chance for someone to get to 524.

Default Stop The Presses :

...I'm glad to be following Mr. Adam Of Burbank with this new arrival for my Mule Haas Athletics Playing Days Master Set ......he might know if this postcard-back is somewhat "rare"...... the other three guys on here abandoned Mr. Mack for greener but 'way colder pastures...

Can you post the back?

I wouldn't say they abandoned Mack: no free agency. Mack Daddy sold Foxx and Grove to Boston and traded Cochrane to Detroit.

I could play this game for a year
Next we should do a thread for uniquely known cards.....that would cut down on some of the commons LOL
There are a few other AWA backs, in a deep old collector's collection, but not this player..

What an amazing thread! I used to own a T216 Virginia Extra Germany Schaefer that I believe was a 1/1, but I traded it earlier this year to another board member. Regrets, I have a few

This is probably my rarest card at the moment, although there are a couple more out there. One of my favorites.

1931 W 517 minis.

Nowhere near as cool as most of this thread, but probably the rarest cards I have.

I also have very poorly cut actors and actresses somewhere.

In keeping with Kenny's amazing Cuban collection, this is a recent pick up, you don't see these pop up too often.

Each of these Sam Rice cards appears to be a 1-of-1, per the combined pop reports and as I have never seen another example of any of them. Note - The PSA flip on the Standard Biscuit card is in error - it should read "1917," not 1916.

Default Rare Ted Williams postcard

Although technically a postcard, by far and away my rarest. There may be another out there, but have yet to meet the person who owns one.

This early Ted Williams, by my research is from the 1941 year, supported by the "matching" Joe DiMaggio (owned by bbpostcards [sportingoregon]). The 1941 competition between Williams and DiMaggio "sparked" baseball that year. Both bbpostcards and I wanted the pair, yet neither of us was willing to part with the one we had.

I suspect that this was a "promo" done by Gillette Razor, who started in the late 1930's or early 1940's to advertise with sports heroes (see the 1940 World Series Razor box), which due to the overwhelming success, led to the origin of the Gillette Cavalcade of Sports that ran on radio and then television from 1942-1960.

Yeah, that's a toughie alright. I wanted to see if the back followed the usual printed format or whether it was a post-issue stamp. It is the former.

Default Menagerie back

Looks like this was from the same sheet as Rhotchkiss Menagerie Wagner
The upside down miss cut back and the wide bottom
Thoughts?

If so how cool is that

Bob, I do think all the Menageries are from the same sheet. Here are the two I own for comparison. If you ever feel like getting rid of the McGraw, I would be interested in it.

I used to have the color separation proofs for the 1975 Hostess George Brett (rookie year) card that was wasn't issued. Can't get rarer than a card that never existed.

Some awesome cards from all. But for me, Michael's K-Bats cabinet was a treat. I followed that cabinet when auctioned a pair of times ~10-15 years ago. I was enjoying this thread on the sidelines but upon seeing the K-Bats cabinet opted to post in hopes of adding a little more Detroit love.

I believe the following to be unique Tomlinson cabinets of the 1886 team. The action poses are more common with multiple copies for each player (3-6 typical); but the portraits are tough, in some cases perhaps unique. Extra credit to anyone who can name these players (if you need help, the names are nearly legible on most of the cabinets).

The colored mount OJs are also pretty rare, some or most of the following could be unique.

I also enjoy collecting N333 Newsboys, many of which are believed to be unique, but I'll leave that for another time.

Yes, I just had a private convo with Kevin, he has the other two Johnson's pitching and two others showing Johnson. That's the beauty of this sub, you can't find that stuff anywhere else.
