Default Vintage Baseball? Statue.. Thoughts??

Posted By: Matt Hart

I recently picked this one up. It's a neat item and is old. The base with the tree stump sort of resembles a heubach. The thing that throws be off is why he would be holding multiple baseballs. Thoughts? Baseball or something else?
Thanks
Matt

It would be nice if he were holding a bat. And why is he holding so many balls? Don't think it's a baseball statue.

This is very funny. When I first saw that piece on ebay, I thought apples immediately. Definately not baseball.

Thanks for the replies guys. My father said oranges, so I guess the fruit thing is right.

I thought it immediately only because I once bought a CDV of a boy holding what appeared to be a ball and when I scanned it in at home I realized that it was probably an apple. I was out a whopping $3.

Even the outfit is close to what he is wearing in the photo. The statue cost me $33 with shipping, so no big deal.
Thanks,
Matt

$33...still ain't bad for that statue. Sometimes you have to take risk for great rewards...not that $33 is much of a risk, but you get what I'm saying.

Based on the boy wearing boots, a jacket, etc - could they be snowballs?

Jon, I agree, it looks like snowball thrower. Though, having been a kid raised in the frozen tundra, we usually made and threw snowballs one a time-- no reserves in the arms.

Modern tennis players keep reserve tennis balls in their pockets or skirts. Though, I think we can conclude the statue is not a tennis player.

Matt,

Is this a "chalkware" statue? And I am guessing there are no stamps etc. on the bottom?

thanks

Whether we're talking apples or oranges...or even baseballs...let's face it: the kid throws like a girl.

The statue is chalkware and is unmarked. Snowballs make sense.
Thanks.

I've seen the boy a couple of times before and if I remember rightly its a bakers advertising item. I've not seen the statue/figure but a counter-top display and a poster I think. The balls are dough balls.
