Default question about The New Encyclopedia of Sports

Posted By: Alan

Hi-
If this post is considered too OT, please delete it. I am looking for information concerning the value of the 1947 The New Encyclopedia of Sports by Frank G Menke. My particular example is autographed by Menke and John T. Oneil (he is listed as one of two people the book is dedicated to). The book is signed to Cardinal Francis Spellman (a Boston area Cardinal in the 1940s) and the inscription is dated 1947. I have a few questions:
1. Is this the first edition of this book? If so, is it considered a collectible in its own right?
2. Who is/was John T Oneil? The dedication page states that the book is dedicated to John T Oneil (San Antonio Texas) and Louis B Oneil (Missoula Montana and Los Angeles) and calls them Sportsmen and Gentlemen.
3. Any chance Menke's autograph is rare and/or desirable? I sincerely doubt it, as the little I have found while researching Menke does not lead me to believe his autograph would be greatly valued. I will try to post a scan later on today or tommorrow.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Alan Elefson
