Default Why is Anyone Bidding on This?

I believe that this is an after-the fact cinderella item, and Rob effectively describes it as such. What is the attraction of this and why would anyone bid $700 for it?

Just the fact to say they won something in an REA auction and this is about as affordable in one of his auctions as you are going to get. Sad but true.

People pay crazy prices for all kinds of stuff in this hobby..I don't think $700 is crazy for that photo considering it was owned by a player in the N172 set. And no it is not mine, and no I have not bid on it nor will I, even though I think it's very cool.

Default people do strange things

It's a nice item at least.....this is much less money but people really do bid on this stuff....(and I realize ebay sellers with private listings are suspect but people do bit on this stuff)

Perhaps a couple of years ago REA auctions a bunch of similar items, and I was surprised at how much they sold for and still am a bit mystified at the values. They were correctly described and modern dated at auction, so bidders knew what they were bidding on. I guess some people like them. It's not my money, so I won't judge. Sometimes it's a matter of taste.

The rare Mayo Cut Plug real photo postcard, huh? I hear they get a premium it was postmarked on the day Ripken broke Gehrig's record.

Take no offense. Just a bit of prototype levity.

I can see why people would collect them. It's just the pricing I've found interesting.
