Default Help Please -Was this given to 1927 NY YANKEES?

Can you help me identify what this is? I am fairly sure it is an ice bucket - the shield on it says, "1927 World Champions N.Y. Yankees".

Aside from the marking e.p.n.s on it (which means electro-plated silver) - there are no other markings.

Do you think this was given out as a gift to the players for their winning season? Have you ever seen one before?

I've owned it for at least 20 years and it's old I just don't know who made it and why? My conclusion is that it was made as a prototype by a company who wanted the Yankees to buy them to give away. But that is merely a guess.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot -

peter
