Default 2001 Topps Checklists

In 2001, Topps issued checklists in 3 colors, according to the TCDB:
Red (hobby)
Green (HTA)
Yellow (retail)- COMC calls this "orange"

COMC also lists a 4th variety - blue.

Anyone know where these come from?

Thanks and Happy New Year!

On a spitballing guess, nothing more or nothing less, I'd say Walmart or Target (or both)

Rich

It's this, WalMart, Target or both. I have some from the packs I got as a 10 year old kid in 2001, all of which came from WalMart or Target when my family hit the store and my Dad would sometimes get me a pack (what a guy!).

Thanks for the information - makes sense.

It's one thing to wonder about how things were released in vintage - i.e. what sort of packs did the '73 blue team checklists come in? - but as I try to work on modern master sets there are a lot more questions in terms of how many different ways was a product actually released, what sort of inserts did each format have (talking here about things like these checklists, ad cards, etc.), and so forth.

It's actually more difficult, if perhaps a bit cheaper, to try to pull it all together with modern.
