Default T206 Merkle back run

I've been working on this for years, finished it in January, then had to wait until now due to a surprise in the REA auction. Please forgive the format, these huge pictures are all I can manage.

I bought this one off ebay not realizing it was a 42. The seller didn't know either. I was shocked when I received the card.

Thank you. I didn't even know there was a Pirate until REA, and I ended up fighting Leon (hi Leon) to get it.

nice Sean. You have a couple that are beyond tough with the brown Lenox and the Pirate. Job well done

I was in "awe" coming down through the black Lenox to the brown Lenox, seeing the beautiful Uzit, but upon seeing that Pirate back, my mind exploded. Awesome run from a fellow Merkle throwing collector (but with only 4 back variations).

Incredible!

You couldn't have picked a better T206 for a back run than the Merkle Throwing. Well done, man.

Great job Sean. It was no fight on the Pirate back. You clobbered me. It was sort of interesting in that 3-4 of the Pirate cards were hotly contested by a few of us that are on the board quite a bit and know each other.

Jim, thank you. You and Tim deserve an assist for letting me know about the Pirate months in advance. Withuot the warning I probably couldn't get it.

Dave thank you . If you're planning a serious run, I can tell you that most of them show up from time to time. I've even seen a couple Lenox and an Uzit. The Pied 42 is surprisingly difficult. I've never seen another one, but I'm sure there must be a few.
Good luck with your run. Let me know how it goes.

Jason, JimB, Peter and Chris, thank you very much.
Chris gets an assist with this run because he stayed up all night in the chatroom and kept me company even though he didn't have any cards of his own to watch. Next time you'll get some print error or scrap for yourself.

I don't know and if I recall correctly it's the only one that one of us in the chat room, or on the board, didn't win.

Phenomenal run Sean. As I continued to scroll down, I thought, well it can't get much more impr-, wait --- Brown Lenox? I love the Pirate example!

If you are going to at all, how are you going to display them?

Pfffft.... you didn't even have to track down a BL 460?? Easy peasy...

j/k obviously, that's a great run! The Pirate back might be overdoing it.

Thank you Derek. And Jake, I don't know what's next. I suppose I will add a few cards, maybe upgrade here and there, until I can think of another fun project. I'll let you know...

Chuck, very astute! Yes, I chose a subject that allowed me to avoid both the Drum and the Broadleaf 460.

And I suppose that you could argue that the Pirate back is overkill.

Nate, I haven't thought about a display. I usually put my cards in a bank vault and take them out a couple of times a year to look at them. Maybe I should get some type of display case for them, but for right now it's back to the vault.

Jim, for now I'll upgrade the set a bit, but eventually I'll start another run.

Here is why Merkle: In 2004 I bought an Uzit that just happened to feature Merkle. In 2005 I saw a Brown Lenox in a Lew Lipset auction, and I had to have it. It also featured Merkle. Having those two to start with, I always said I would make this run, though I didn't begin in earnest until 2008.
So as you can see, the run was an accident. But after those first two, I had to do it.
Good luck with Mcgraw.

That's basically the same for me with McGraw after picking up the Cycle and Black Lenox initially. Soon after I found myself picking up the Red Cross and a few others. Up to 9 different backs now!!

Sean

Fantastic stuff....you conquered the "Monster" with respect to Merkle.

Is there a possibility of finding an EPDG card of this Merkle ?
