1963 Kahn's Weiners
Posted By: Robert Dimand
Great early 1960's cards. Very low PSA pop, most can be accounted for by the few of us on the registry. Most came in hot dog packages, some available without the dogs. Royals and Jerry West, very limited. Some of the only West early cards, besides the 1961 Fleer. beside the 63's here, I added his 1960, his true RC |

The Kahn's pop reorts are intriguing. Here is the 1962, interesting in that more than 1/2 are 6 and up. Reportedly some were available not in the hot dog packs. The 63's have more than 1/2 6 and up also. 2 collectors now have most of the top end PSA grades (and not parting with them), I'm happy with middle grades. |

Thanks, the scanner is a Brother 4 in 1 MFC-8460N. Combo Laser printer scanner, fax, copier. Not a high end. The key for the scanners is depth-of-field and those that copy can be checked by bring a slab with you and making a copy to check focus. The scans start at 150 dpi, hi res about 1.2 MB per scan. Then I use Photoshop Elements (aka Photoshop Lite for us novices), open the image and then save them in "save for web" setting, at 600 pixels wide (for the Kahn's) and at 85k per image. Very happy with these settings as all of the scans are under 100k (PSA Registry likes that). I often will go up to about 350k if it's for eBay for a larger image. All of this is very easy with photoshop Elements. I don't alter or fix the image at all, so it's easy and fast. Yopu can make them any size, the smaller ones in the first post are 400 or 450 pixels wide. |

Got 3 more back, now at 12/13, including a Hawkins 6!! Very low pop, several are pop 3, accounted for by the 3 main registry sets. |

Thanks for the the great stuff. I'm a baseball card collector with some Kahn's and have never seen the basketball. To tell you the truth, I think the basketball images are cooler, much more action-type shots. Thanks. |

Thanks guys. Just got 5 more, 4 upgrades and the 1 needed to finish the 63s. Will post once back from PSA. Most were in hot dog packs so very tough to find in high grade, there were some "presentation" sets, but very few. The PSA pop #'s continue to be very low, and the low #'s seem to limit demand. |
