Default 1919 World Series Ticket - a Full and a FAKE

I'm 99% sure this is no good.

1. Blank back. Everyone I've ever seen has printing on the back.
2. Not in the PSA Holder - looks like it was sent in and sent back due to questionable authenticty.
3. Corners cut, never seen one like that.
4. Could be a Proof, but PSA grades Proofs and note them as such and would have here if they thought that.

Anyone else have any concerns with it?

Be careful out there!

Ive never seen one that looks like this...nothing printed on the back and the print on the front is not crisp and clear...I will send the link to a guy who tried to collect ever image of 1919 WS tickets to see what he thinks.

This is the closest I could find of a complete ticket from a Cin game if you want to compare the corner of the left side that is always missing

here is a post from the person who is selling it asking opinions on it...claims passed down from his grandfather to father

https://www.reddit.com/r/SportsMemor...ticket_game_1/

Update - the person now claims the auction listing is not his ticket...when it is clearly the exact same ticket

stay far away from this one

Funny that the seller asks for opinions on how to sell it.

Wonder how in the world he came up with Block Auctions in Ferndale Michigan.

Hopefully he bids it up and gets stuck back with it, otherwise there is going to be one disappointed collector out there. Currently at $742, with 42 watchers, guessing it will go much higher. Never underestimate the uneducated.

Thanks all for the input.

also worth noting I have never seen a Game 1 ticket sell for $18k...or any 1919 WS ticket with a hole punch...

but a good question is if it is fake where did the full ticket example (the left side printing and format) come from???

I contacted Block Auctions. They responded quickly and Thanked me for caring about authenticity. I included pics and they said a cataloger will review and take item down if appropriate. I referred them to Moe's post as he was catalyst for this.

or it could be possible someone ripped off the image from reddit and made a fake ticket using that? The creases on both match up exactly as does the trimmed corners...however the hole punch doesnt look exactly to match...Either way the auction ticket doesnt look real

It is possible that the Reddit ticket is the source of this ticket. The OP from reddit says they will post a picture of the back of their ticket later today. ...getting interesting.

was thinking that too...but he said his girlfriend checked for him and the back was blank so he deleted the previous posts...so make of that what you will...clearly replicas I would say only bc the hole punch seems a little off and one seems a bit more faded than the other...but corners are clearly matched up and exact same ticket No.

Well Owner of Reddit ticket says he still has it and it is blank as well. Not to mention game one tickets were printed on orange card stock. So it is possible that multiple copies of this fake exist. ...sad....just sad. Because no way to turn off a new collector to this hobby than for him to be scammed.

And poor marks for PSA saying Questionable authenticity!! When something is a fake, say "It’s a Fake".
This help prevent things like this from happening.

I'm sure that if multiple fakes exist, there is a significant amount of delinquent war tax due.

The reddit poster did show a Game 7 full ticket that sold at a Goldin auction
seen here that sold for $18k...so there is an example of one real full game ticket from Cin game

It came from the estate of a Cin Reds employee who also had an employee pass and a season pass...pretty cool...I missed it when these came into the hobby

Here they talk about the find a little

Well thank you for reporting it. Team work!

Glad they took it down. We'll see if it re-emerges.

Nice that someone will not be getting ripped off on this one.
