Starting the New Year off with a ‘56 Killebrew and friends. Picked them up from a board member. Thank you, Frank. You’re a gentleman, through and through.

Great card show pickups John. I was happy to find one card I needed at the Dallas card show last night.

Thanks. That's a very nice Johnston's. Back like 25 years ago or more when it was maybe a $500 card raw, I briefly had the Aaron. Getting rid of it is a regret, I suppose, but a passive one - I was young and dumb back then and probably couldn't afford whatever I had paid for it anyway... :-)

Found this at a LCS today. If this is the new PSA 3 then it's a great time to buy freshly graded cards.

1/25 Hickory, NC show pickups.

Maybe just a local thing, but has anyone else noticed the dearth of Jackie Robinson cards? I saw two Jackie cards on the entire 500 table show floor today. One was a ‘56 Topps in an SGC 1.5; the other was a ‘49 Leaf in I think an SGC 4 for 20 grand.

What gives? This is the second show in as many weeks where I found NO Jackies. I’m looking to add him as the last big name for my 56 Topps set in a little bit better than Fair condition, so resorted to buying one later today on eBay…

Anyhow, here’s what I spent my Jackie money on at the show:

Nice looking card. What's that brown spot on Yogi's back?

Had a great time going to a show and chatting people up for the first time in forever!!!

Upgraded my 1962 Topps #200 Mickey Mantle a tad with an SGC 5, and scored the PSA 9 1966 Topps #543 Roger Craig high number for a seriously beautiful price...

1962mantle200SGC51966craig543PSA9.jpg

Grabbed a gorgeous 1970 Topps #630 Ernie Banks, a 1969 Topps #99 Graig Nettles RC variation (really tough to find even remotely centered), and upgraded a bunch of cards from my sets, including some exceptional 1971s (with a Simmons RC and a nicely centered Wilhelm), and also added a trio of really sweet (if you ignore the big-headedness) and quite overlooked 1962 high numbers...

That's a great group of cards. Not bad as a consolation prize. Well done.

It looks to be a printing flaw. I've noticed it on many other examples.

I've scoured this card, tilted under lighting, and I "think" I see a few micro, and I mean micro, wrinkles on the back. Still an incredibly harsh grade. Best kind of card to buy.

Wrapped up the 1964 Wheaties Stamps for my guys with this pickup. Unfortunately, no Mathews in the set.
