Default RMY Winnings arrived today!

Just wanted to post that my RMY auction winnings arrived today. Photos look even better in person than the they did in the auction.

Thank You Rhys for a great auction, and my meager 2 photos that I won. Looking forward to the next auction.

Tim

Joseph
I won the Pirates sluggers from 1960 with Clemente and the Southworth photo from 1919. They are posted in the RMY winnings thread.

Did you win anything?

Tim

Color me envious.
I can't wait for mine to come.
I'm scared to find out when the next auction is. I'm gonna be broke with all these great photos up for sale!

Introspection is a wonderful first step.

--------

All of these photo threads excite me. It appears more and more collectors are finding enjoyment in photos which makes me happy. I am interested if people plan to frame or display them. I am also very interested to hear what newbies think when they get them in person. Keep the feedback coming!!!
I am always happy to speak with passionate photo collectors as it makes me feel normal. Feel free to contact me with any thoughts, questions or concerns you have... WARNING...be ready for by candid, fast talking opinions

I'm very excited about these items. I visited Rhys' table at the National and asked him specifically about Hoppe and Jack Johnson photos, and he told me that nice examples would be in the upcoming auction. Holy cow, was he right - I was able to kill three rather difficult collecting needs in a single stroke.

Thanks again, Rhys - this sort of auction has been a long time coming.

I'm sure packaging and shipping an entire auction is a lot of work and takes time, and if he is doing it on his own or with little help it may take time. This is his first auction after all, and I'm sure the big auctions have multiple people doing the work. I know some big auction houses have full time employees who only on shipping and packaging.

So I'd give him due slack for his first auction.

Besides, I remember when it would take two weeks or so to get winnings from Lelands and MastroNet.

It's always more frustrating to those at the end of the list, especially when others started talking about receiving their winnings over a week ago and some of us haven't even yet received an email indicating that our items have been shipped. A little frustration in such situations is completely normal.

Am waiting patiently in Canada for my RMY winnings. Mailed a check on October 8th; it was received on October 19th. That's a speedy 11 days from Victoria, B.C. to Boise. I did the math. A whiplash-inducing 1.7 miles per hour. Rhys cashed my check on the 23rd and assuming he sent my package out promptly I should get my goodies on Monday, November 3rd.

Was just about ready to give up on my Brockelman-Luckey winnings. They mailed my package on October 8th; it arrived this morning. Seventeen days, 2380 miles from Dallas to here, 6 miles an hour. Burn rubber, Leon!

I love the Miles Per Hour delivery time analysis! I thought all you Canucks used kilometers though?

Lance: I am an American trapped in a Canadian gulag. Kilometers are bad enough. Centigrade is meaningless to me. Hectares and pascals, forget it.

From the Guinness Book of World Records: "A garden snail named Archie, owned by Carl Branhorn of Pott Row, England, covered a 13 inch course in 2 minutes at the 1995 World Snail Racing Championships, held in Longhan, England." Archie would fit right in at Canada Post.

Just checked tracking - mine was shipped Tuesday.

I'm finding that a lot of auction houses treat cashier's checks and money orders as if they were personal checks - not just Rhys. Is that true of all AH's? If so, I'll gladly move to personal checks - cheaper and easier.

Got my RMY package Thursday, and yes very happy. 5 pieces among them, 1927 Joe jackson , "the fix is on" , Walter Johnson family shot, and of course Orr and Espo pictures from the Big bad Bruins!

I've already posted most of them in one place or another. The one I was most happy with was a team pic of the 1924 Washington team, but I was happy with all of them.

Rhys has a lot of friends on this forum, so I'm sure he's getting a lot of constructive feedback and his future auctions will be even better - it seems to be the best already, but that's just my perspective. There are really a lot of photos coming to market lately, so you can pick and choose who you want to do business with - advanced photo collectors are very fortunate that Rhys decided to go this route with his business.

I agree with everything you wrote here Scott. Rhys has been great. If I had a chance to buy the same photo from him or another seller; I would choose Rhys. No knock at all against other sellers. I just like the the way Rhys handles himself and does his business.
