Default Vintage Baseball Doll Questions

Hi-

I recently acquired the doll pictured below and I have some questions about it. Usually I pass on generic dolls like this but the face and uniform seemed very different to me. Part of me remembers seeing a similar doll with a cool backstory years ago, but I cannot find anything through Google. Is there a chance the face was modeled after a player? Any ideas on the age or the maker?

Please show your own vintage baseball dolls.

Alan

Default Football Doll

While not baseball, this football doll is a very similar design and construction. I have thought it to be c.1930s.

Hi Alan,
I believe this may be a little closer to what you have. I won these years ago in I believe an R.E.A. auction. I was after the pins not the dolls. One was a yankee and the other a cub. Might have been sold at the 38 world series... Mine has the N.Y and the C on the uniforms... so yes used in the 30s...

Thank you Al, that is a perfect match! I hope all is well. Great pins! Jim, very cool Cubs dolls. Joe, that is a great football one. I do not think I have seen a larger, detailed football one like that before (other than the Grange doll).

I have always thought mine favored Lou Gehrig.
