Help on Red Sox Bat
Posted By: Greg
I purchased this bat a couple of years ago. It's a Wright and Ditson that has RED SOX JR. on it. When I bought it, (I think it may have been from you, Scott ??) the date placed on it was pre-1920. Does anyone know what type of bat it is? It's 30" long I believe. Would the "Jr." represent a store model type of bat for kids? Any help would be appreciated... |

It's a kids bat and it's definitely pre-1920. I'm guessing since Wright-Ditson was located in Boston that it was a very popular model with the younger set. |

Thanks Dan. Yes. Wright and Ditson were in Boston, in fact, they made the Sox uniforms and sweaters. You can see an ad for them (tennis player logo) at the bottom of the red and white 1909 scorecard on the right: |
