Default 1950 Philadelphia Athletics Signed Ball

Hey all,

I picked this up 2 days ago. I was confused by prices. Heritage sold one with Connie Mack and Mickey Cochrane for $4,400 and others go for $400. Why such a large difference? Thanks for the insight.

It’s a good question, as I too have noticed huge price disparities on balls like this. But to properly answer it, you’d need to post pics or a link to the Heritage lot. If you can do that, you’ll likely get some better answers.

Regardless, that’s a very nice/clean example you acquired.

Connie Mack was deemed a clubhouse signature on the $310 ball.

Does Connie Mack add $4,100 of value though?

Well he is the biggest signature on the ball, he sits right on the sweetspot, and was the leader of the team. So it is pretty glaring for his sig to be secretarial.

I think it's just a case of two bidders really wanting the Heritage example, and driving it up well beyond market value.... combined with yours going a bit inexpensively.

Still a huge price disparity, but those collectors with biggest pockets wouldn't want a secretarial Mack.
