Default Question about player on card

New member here but I’ve enjoyed looking through this forum the last few days. I’ve been working on my collection of Red Sox HOF memorabilia and I purchased this item last week but when I got it in and put it next to some other pics of the same player something looked off, especially the nose. Just seeing if anyone in here had any insight or maybe I’m just being paranoid.
2015 Panini National Treasures card depicting Herb Pennock card with a jersey swatch #21 on the back and the card is #’d 2/10 on the front. I’ve attached a pic of the player on the card and then attached of Herb Pennock from the MLB Hall of Fame website. Any help would be appreciated!

Todd

Welcome to the forum. I am sorry to say that first pic does not show Pennock. Herb had a long and thin neck. The face doesn't look all that close either IMO, especially the nose but most other features as well.

Default Heinie wagner

It is Heinie Wagner, I believe it could be a Paul Thompson photo.

You might be correct (about), your Heinie-ness. Here is a photo of Mr. Wagner for comparison, with a less distorted image from the original post. After checking it over, there are various features that seem to match really well (ears, shape of the eyebrows, chin) but Heinie sure did age. The bottom lip does look a little different...perhaps Heinie was an early proponent of lip filler?

Thanks so much for all the replies, sorry about the poor quality pic in the OP, here is the full card in question. I’m assuming Panini won’t do anything about it if I reached out to them?

That's a nicely designed card, Panini just missed the boat on QC, pretty big miss, you may want to reach out to them and let them know about their error. Unfortunately, unless you got the card directly from them or an unopened pack? (I don't know how those things work) you have no recourse.

Well, I'm not sure what Panini intended by issuing this card, but you can rest assured that is not Herb Pennock in a Red Sox jersey from 1924. Herb was a Yankee by then.

Gentlemen, the player depicted is in-fact Del Gainer.
